Will Call - Pit Boss
Pit Stop Program:
The Pit Stop program is inspired by the speed and precision of NASCAR and IndyCar pit crews, designed to help Ganahl Lumber fulfill its mission: To contribute to the success and profitability of our customers. By ensuring that will call orders are prepared efficiently and accurately, we provide a service that saves our customers time and enhances their bottom line.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greet all incoming customers.
- Verify order and get paperwork started.
- Direct all customers to appropriate bay (parking spot).
- Verify that a loader is acting on the customer’s order.
- Be familiar with the lay-out of the yard and stocked items.
- Make sure all orders for next day are built and assembled prior to the gates opening the next morning.
- Pit boss should be able to locate all orders and be familiar with locations and multiple tags.
- Keep area clean and always organized.
- Be familiar with load up techniques and weight capacities of vehicles.
- Keep customers safe and out of harm’s way.
- Take the role of others when it is needed to exceed customer expectations.
- Keep the Pit dashboard updated and clean. Nothing should be in the past.
- Work with sales to promote more use of the Pit.
- Know the customers by name and understand their business.
- Verify correct material at the gate when customers are leaving the yard.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Time management and organizational skills.

- Exhibits great people skills and hospitality.
- Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment including hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts when needed.
- This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, while working both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be in adequate physical condition to perform requirements such as mental, physical and manual dexterity, hand/grip strength, depth perception and any other physical attributes that enable the employee to perform the job safely according to all Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations and requirements.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to push/pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Must wear prescribed personal protective equipment when handling material or operating equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months of related experience preferred.
- Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment and required drug screens as requested.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Physical Capacity Assessments as requested.
