Job Summary:

This position requires the ability to drive a delivery truck to customer locations throughout Southern California. May load and unload delivery vehicle as required. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Primary Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Greets customers with respect and courtesy.  
  • Keeps up to date with the product inventory and its functionality.
  • Should ask questions and provide relevant information to the customers that they might need and then list down the orders which the customers might purchase, thereby providing them excellent customer service.
  • Inspect vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, including the completion of pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods including the inspection of loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
  • Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
  • Read and interpret maps to determine vehicle routes.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicle.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
  • Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Operate equipment, such as truck cab computer, cellular phones, driver cameras, GPS equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisor or other drivers.
  • Load or unload trucks or help other with loading or unloading, using loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain proficiency in all organizational safe working policies and practices.
  • Performs other driver related duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to company policies and work requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • The ability to read, write, understand, and relay, written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to operate available equipment, such as calculators, or scanners.
  • Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.
  • Knowledgeable about company’s products and services, and customer-related policies.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Must be in adequate physical condition to perform requirements such as mental, physical and manual dexterity, hand/grip strength, depth perception and any other physical attributes that enable the employee to perform the job safely according to all Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Must wear prescribed personal protective equipment when handling material or operating equipment. 

Other Requirements:

  • Successfully pass a drug test as requested, a physical capacity assessment, a background and motor vehicle check.
  • Must maintain a valid commercial driver’s license and driving record that meets the organization safe driving standards.
