Position Summary: As an Outside Sales Representative at Ganahl Lumber Company, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities and managing existing accounts within the lumber and building material industry. You will act as the primary point of contact for customers, identifying their needs, and offering customized solutions to help them succeed in their projects. Your success will be driven by your ability to prospect, build relationships, and close sales in a dynamic and competitive market.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting & Business Development: Actively seek out new customers by prospecting through cold calls, networking, and attending industry events to generate leads and drive sales growth.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction.
  • Product Knowledge: Provide customers with expert advice and recommendations on lumber, concrete products, hardware and building materials, ensuring the right products are selected for their needs.
  • Sales Quoting & Negotiation: Prepare accurate quotes, proposals, and pricing to meet customer specifications and close deals in alignment with company policies.
  • Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, competitive products, and market conditions to identify new business opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as operations, purchasing, and customer service to ensure smooth order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Needed:
To be successful in this position you will be a quick learner, self-driven disciplined & thoughtful, natural with follow-up and follow through, detailed-oriented and being outside the office 90-95% of the time, traveling locally.  Most importantly you will have a genuine interest in helping professionals with a positive and proactive attitude.
The ideal candidate for this position must be able to stay organized, multitask and effectively manage their time. 
Other skills & knowledge include:
  • Experience in Sales: Proven track record in outside sales, preferably within the building materials, concrete products, hardware, safety, waterproofing, lumber, or construction industries.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with building materials, hardware, concrete, safety, waterproofing and lumber including their features, applications, and benefits, is highly desirable.
  • Relationship Building: Strong ability to develop and maintain customer relationships, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to effectively negotiate pricing and terms to meet the needs of both customers and the company.
  • Self-Motivated & Goal-Oriented: Ability to work independently with a strong drive to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Computer Proficiency: Comfortable using CRM systems and other sales tools to track activities, manage customer accounts, and process orders.
